Our guest for “Cooking with Milwaukee Community Leaders” is Shary Tran. Shary is the Director of Diversity & Inclusion for Generac Power Systems. And is on the list of 40 Most Influential Asian Americans in Wisconsin.
She is also a founding member of Elevasian, started in 2015, with the purpose of “Elevating Asian Heritage & Making MKE a place where AAPIs can thrive by being unapologetically Asian”.
Vietnamese summer rolls & Shary Tran Interview. Vietnamese summer rolls, also known as gỏi cuốn, are a healthy appetizer or light meal. These rolls are made with rice paper wrappers filled with fresh herbs, crisp vegetables, protein such as shrimp or pork, and rice noodles.

Our guest for "Cooking with Community Leaders - Leland, MI Edition" is Larry Mawby. Larry was the founder and owner of Mawby Wines until 2020 when he retired from full-time wine making. While retired, Larry tackled the Affordable Housing issue in Leelanau County and started the Community Land Trust Non-Profit Peninsula Housing. We discuss Mawby Wines, Peninsula Housing, and the Leelanau Conservancy with Larry.
Today we are tasting several Leelanau (Michigan) County foods (Peas & Peanuts, Carlson’s Fish Dip, Natural Northern Jalapeno Cherry Spread, and Cherry Republic Cherry Salsa. And we are pairing them with some sparkling wines from Mawby's Sparkling Wines.
Larry explains how the sparkling wines at Mawby Wines are made.

Our Guest on "Cooking with Community Leaders, Leland Mi Edition" is Brian Price. Brian was involved in the commercial fishing industry for 18 years. With his deep interest in land and water conservation issues, Brian began working for the Leelanau Conservancy in 1988, leading that organization as Executive Director for over 25 years. In 2018 Brian took on the job of Lake Biologist for the Lake Leelanau Lake Association and led its effort to preserve water quality in the lake and also to bring invasive Eurasian Watermilfoil under control.
Today we are preparing BBQ ribs on the Green Egg and grilled veggies. This show is shot on location in Leland Michigan.
Brian tells us how he makes BBQ Ribs on the Green Egg, along with some grilled veggies.

Elevated Grilled Cheese with Caramelized Onions - A great grilled cheese sandwich is a masterpiece of simplicity and taste. It is about the perfect balance of crispy bread and gooey melted cheese. Today we are using Pepper Jack Cheese with Caramelized Onions on Sourdough Bread. On the side, we have sliced avocado, Dave’s Pickles, and beautiful heirloom tomatoes, with an olive oil/balsamic drizzle, topped with a basil chiffonade.
